Maccabi Ashdod Basketball

Since 1959, the Maccabi Ashdod Association has been promoting sports in the city, with impressive achievements in the national league and a significant resurgence in recent years.

Maccabi Ashdod Basketball Club Growing with the City

Maccabi Ashdod Basketball Club has been operating in its current format since the 2008/09 season. At the beginning, the club operated a small number of competitive teams in the lower leagues, alongside a small basketball academy – with only around 100 children.

However, since then – the journey has been remarkable.

Today, the club is one of the leading clubs in Israel for growing and developing young players, operating:

25 competitive boys’ teams (about 370 players)

7 competitive girls’ teams (about 100 players)

Over 1,500 boys and girls in extracurricular basketball programs, across the entire city of Ashdod – from Zone A in the north to Zone D in the south.

Youth Basketball

In the 2022–2023 season, a historic moment was recorded for the club – the youth premier team was promoted to the National Youth Premier League, completing their integration among all age groups in the top leagues and leading clubs in Israel.

Professional Development in the Premier Leagues

Beyond the impressive numerical growth, Maccabi Ashdod Basketball Club has also significantly developed in the professional and competitive fields. Over the years, all the club’s competitive teams have registered continuous progress, with many teams rising to the top leagues in Israel’s basketball association.

Every year, talented players grow here – players who are leading the future generation of Israeli basketball – through persistent and uncompromising investment, pure professionalism, and true passion for the game.

Collaborations

The Maccabi Tza'irim Movement, which established a unique and first-of-its-kind sports community center in Israel, in the city of Ashdod, has provided a grant to the club for additional sports value beyond basketball training.

This season, the club began a special collaboration with 2 entities:

Maccabi Gedera Association, which operates in the Gedera area, is collaborating with us in daily activities. They wish to be part of the professional vision for development, to grow and promote the children of Ashdod and its surroundings.
